Are gay men†born†gay? It seems the evidence says we are, but if that’s the case, how could same-sex attraction, a trait that prevents reproduction, evolve into the human race and survive generations of history. The conundrum bogs the mind of openly gay and proudly flamboyant filmmaker Mike Sage, who sets out on a cross-country adventure as part of a wacky science documentary.†Survival of the Fabulous†follows Mike as he seeks answers from the foremost scientists in the field, even participating in their cutting-edge research. Along the way, he’ll grill his parents about his childhood, meet some gay sheep and bombard his brainwaves with gay and straight pornography to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Mike Sage is a filmmaker, editor, writer and performer. He grew up in a small village in southern Ontario, and moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University’s Film Production program. His award-winning science-fiction short Decoding Aleil debuted in several film festivals and on Canadian cable channel Space: the Imagination Station. He recently completed the short documentary So You Think You Can Dance Dance? about videogame dancing, which is now competing in the festival circuit. Mike debuted on camera as a contestant on OLN’s Mantracker, and he also edits the hit makeover show Style by Jury, airing on the W Network.
