The title of my thesis is Water Issues, Planes of Immanence. ‘Planes of Immanence’ refers to a Deleuzian poetic concept where the “plane of immanence is surrounded by illusions, by thought's mirages, that rise from the plane itself like vapors from a pond.” Water currently acts as a refuse site rather than a refuge. Arising is a renewing collective force that is reinvesting water with ancient awe and reverence, new repairs and resolutions. I focus my attention on potentials. My work physically consists of a multi-media reverberating crystalline structure. A 12-foot photographic panoramic triptych of a power plant with fore-grounded swimmers faces a 4-foot horizon panoramic image with solar/sun energy. Three 3-foot dual photographic panoramas of superimposed lights on water interplay with juxtaposed fire/water, oranges/blues, abstract/representation. There are two video components, the first consists of a high definition shoreline pan horizontally paired with a close-up HD shot of a Tibetan Singing bowl filled with water. The singing vibrations are making the water leap out of the bowl vertically toward the shoreline. The projection is displayed on a curved translucent plexiglas screen. The second video piece ‘Water Songs’, consists of 12 videos divided into a crystalline mosaic projected down onto a large oval of water. Sound moves between the 12 videos in a predetermined symbolic mathematical pattern. The four video triads consist of elements, sources; movement and distortion. A reprinted Water Horizons Dual book of 108 pages consisting of 17 water panoramas will be available. Access to many further facets of ‘Water Issues’ found at: iwhist.wordpress.com.

Underwater photographer, scuba diver and multimedia-artist, my work is represented by and can be seen at elainefleckgallery.com and galleryontheweb.com. My hope is to expand an investigation toward water’s maternality as we are all born from the twinkle within its eye. The problem is profound as our current crisis and convoluted thinking is taking away five children per minute through water’s misuse.
